About Me
I firmly believe that any emotional or psychological difficulties are shaped by our life experiences, the relationships we’ve been part of, and the wider culture we live in. From this perspective, problems are not seen as flaws within a person, but as understandable responses to what they have lived through and the contexts they have been shaped by. Approaching therapy in this way helps to separate the problem from the person, reducing shame and self-blame and making space for compassion and understanding.
My priority is providing care that is person-centred, compassionate, and effective. This means I lean on research and use evidence-based approaches when suggesting treatment options. I will always focus on understanding your individual needs and work with you to find ways of managing the issue that suits you best. I draw on a mixture of modalities, particularly Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, Compassion-Focused Therapy and Narrative Therapy to support you.
As a Clinical Psychologist, I have been trained to work with people across different stages of life and with a wide range of difficulties. My experience includes, but is not limited to, supporting people with anxiety based disorders such as OCD or phobias, depression, self-esteem issues, trauma, work-related stress, and adjusting to illness. In most recent years I have worked within physical health, supporting clients diagnosed with cancer, given palliative diagnosis, and following a bereavement. I have also worked on developing and delivering a couples’ intervention following a brain injury, working towards increasing the evidence base and published research in this overlooked field.
I also have experience with other aspects of psychological work. I have delivered training to medical professionals on psychological issues, and offered one off workshops to organisation on topics such as work related stress or managing stress as a carer. I have facilitated reflective practice groups and supervision for medical and psychological professionals to aid them in developing their skills further and offering a supportive and reflective space to grow as practitioners.
